Michael Batshaw is a New York City based psychotherapist and nationally recognized relationship expert. Mr. Batshaw is a featured relationship authority for Psychology Today where he writes a blog for their website entitled, Before you get Engaged: Questions to contemplate if you are thinking of marriage.  In addition to Psychology Today, his expertise on a variety of relationship issues has been featured in Redbook Magazine, Encore Magazine, sheknows.com, lifescript.com, thedailybeast.com, and bettyconfidential.com, among others. Mr. Batshaw graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors in Philosophy, completed his Masters of Science in Social Work at Columbia University, and did his post-graduate training at the Gestallt Associates for Psychotherapy. Michael Batshaw is on the faculty of the New Triad Foundation for Collaborative Arts. He lives with his wife and two children in Manhattan.

Mr. Batshaw has served as the clinical director of HAN, an agency of New York City psychotherapists treating individuals suffering from chronic, physical illness. He has also trained and worked as a staff psychotherapist in both an alcohol/drug treatment program and a grief psychotherapy center in New York City.

Michael Batshaw has practiced Zen meditation for over 15 years and most recently studied with Zen Master Wu Kwang at the Chogye International Zen Center in New York City. Mr. Batshaw facilitates workshops focusing on spirituality and addiction in the New York City area.

Mr. Batshaw is currently on the faculty of the New Triad for Collaborative Arts Foundation in New York City. At New Triad he has taught seminars and workshops on the “Psychology of Collaborative Partnerships”. Mr. Batshaw’s work with the NTCA is also based in his training as a professional opera singer.

Mr. Batshaw made his New York City Carnegie Hall Debut in 2003 as the tenor soloist in the Berlioz Requiem. He has performed as tenor soloist over the past 15 years in such pieces as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the Mozart Requiem and Rossini’s Petite Messe Sollenelle amongst others. Mr. Batshaw received his operatic training from teachers at the Julliard School in Manhattan and The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.
